WELCOME!
When you’re in your mid-forties and you feel lonely, sad, anxious, or fat. Or maybe you feel like you have nobody. Like there is no one for you to talk to. There is someone – my goal is to help you realize that you are not alone, and if you laugh in the process – even better!
9/30/2025 – THE GREAT ESCAPE
Have you ever heard the saying that “Everything happens for a reason”? I am a firm believer in that, even if the “thing” that happened was less than pleasant. The end result, in this case, was wonderful.
We have several dogs. Sly is our boy dog and he is the sweetest, most gentle, little heathen you could ever meet. He idolizes his doggy big sisters and snuggles up to them whenever he can. He dreams a lot in his sleep and makes the most adorable sounds and his little legs just run and run. He is wonderful! Except for his little habit of chewing/eating things. That is a whole different story though. All I’ll say about that now is that he munches on things that he is not supposed to so freaking much! Aside from that habit, he is the perfect little pup. We drove a couple hours from home (to another state entirely) to adopt him. He was our little menace, and we have loved him from the day we got him.
Everything was going so well with our little family. We had, at the time, 2 full blooded Great Danes and our Mini-Aussie, and our Sly (pitbull mix).
and it was around the 4th of July. We were walking all the dogs, and there were people lighting off fireworks. Sly had been skittish attitude lately and it was very weird because loves everyone. We came upon this family, and as hey wanted to say hi and pet the pups. Most of them were absolutely willing to get some pets, excited even! Sly – not so much – he had been so scared, and it really was not like him at all. He managed to pull his head out of his collar and started running. The chase ensued!
My husband went back home, hoping that Sly was there waiting. He was not. I drove around the neighborhood every couple of hours throughout the night, hoping to find him and I posted him all over Social Media. Fortunately, that was what did it. Someone saw the post of him that I created and a post from the shelter with his photo. Someone responded to my post – my Sly was scared shitless and had gone into someone’s garage and hidden next to their hot water heater. They called the shelter and VOILA! That’s where we found our boy the next morning. He was shaking so badly when we picked up him. But that was nothing compared to how badly another dog was shaking. She broke my heart, she was so sad and scared. We did not plan on taking any other dog home besides Sly, but she was so sweet. We brought Sly home and spent some time with him. Then we went back up to the shelter and filled out the paperwork to take her home. They kept her for the next few days and had her spayed. Then we brought her home to her pack. There was definitely some adjustment time, but she is the most loving little nugget. We just adore her and she adores us. She is also an amazing cuddler!
